Pet Insurance Should I Shouldn’t I?

Pet Insurance should I or shouldn’t I? That is the big question I get asked all the time. My first point to make is that when looking to buy a puppy you should look for a reputable breeder. Most breeders that have been in the breeding business for any length of time will know their lines and usually have a great line of dogs that are healthy.
Buying from a reputable breeder that also belongs to the CKC or the AKC also shows that they are in the business of breeding standard line dogs and puppies. Most reputable breeders also offer a health contract guaranteeing their pups to be in good health and if any life treating problems arise they will replace your pup or return your money.
Buying from a back yard breeder that is just trying to make a fast buck is justĀ asking for trouble. You will have know idea what they are breeding and for that matter if they are even purebred. If you are looking to purchase a purebred dog i also suggest making sure the pup is registered even if you don’t think you need their papers, you at least know that they are purebred dogs and parents are registered.
There are certain breeds that i would suggest getting pet insurance the Bulldog is one. There are other breeds such as the Chinese Shar peiĀ and the Bull Mastiff. These dogs can have some minor issues that are easily treated but can be costly.
Pet insurance isn’t a bad idea at all it can help with all kinds of cost if your pup or dog becomes ill. having said that there is also another opinion that you can put away the money spent on pet insurance each month into a saving account to have if you dog or pup happens to become ill. And if you never use it you can take a nice vacation.
I do however feel it is a personal decision and what ever decision you make you are comfortable with. Knowing that you could at anytime have your pet become ill and you can afford to do what is necessary to treat him or her will leave you at peace of mind.
Here are some links to different pet insurance companies. Check each pet insurance company out and find what is the best program. Do your homework
