Cybersleuths Track Down Animal Snuff Video Makers

I recently signed up for a MySpace account to see what it was all about. Well as any of you who have Myspace accounts know, you get bulletins from your friends about whats on their mind or, in this case a form of chain letter that was sent to me.

This letter contained a video and it basically said to sign your name and pass the video on to raise awareness about animal cruelty. Well, I’ve seen some really horrible things, but this was really, really terrible. The video in question depicted a woman in high heels, stomping the stiletto into the ribs of what looked like a 2-4 week old puppy. After which she proceeded to push the bottom of her shoe against the side of the puppies head till blood was trickling out of its ears, eyes and mouth. All the while the puppy is making whimpering noises. The finish of the video was the woman pushing the spike of her shoe directly into the puppies eye, moving it around and pulling it back out, leaving the puppy lifeless with it’s eye gouged out, tongue hanging out it’s mouth and blood spilling all over the rock below it.

The absolute insensitivity and mindless torture of such an innocent little soul was so overwhelming that I felt sickened and still do when I recall the scene. I was debating posting the link to the video here, but have decided against it. These videos were actually sold for money, meaning, some people actually like this filth. Trust me, if you really want to see this video and manage to find it, you will end up feeling sick and dirty after doing so.

After the initial backlash of emotions the puppy killing video gave me, I took a look at what was being done here. The signing of a myspace list by users that will only be seen by the users, never knowing who the last person is to sign it, is ineffectual except to make everyone who receives it moan about how sick the rest of the world is. There will be no consistent list, no actual petition of complaint against this act, and no real action taken. The heart is in the right place, but there needs to be more action than talk.

Over the past few days I’ve done research into this video and the makings of it. Turns out I wasn’t the only person who was outraged, there was an earlier video released that had a kitten being stomped in the same kind of fashion. Here is a news story about it at China Daily *WARNING: Contains graphic pictures of the actual video* link
Some excellent cybersleuth animal lovers managed to find out the location of this woman and find out more details regarding the makers of the video. The maker of the video was paying women to torture animals to death with their high heels. From the sounds of it, there were more than just one or two people involved. The videos were posted online for sale to sick individuals that like this kind of thing. One of the websites was called www.crushworld.net. This website has been shut down. For a further account on the details of this investigation check out this forum discussion which provides a great description of the events involved. ***UPDATE - It appears the forum discussion, unfortunately has been removed***

Now it’s all fine and good that the people were found, but China’s current animal laws basically allow for this kind of cruelty without any kind of real penalties. I went further searching into investigations done into China’s animal cruelty issues over at PeTA and found this investigative video into their fur industry. If you own anything made out of fur, you could be wearing cat and dog fur. Be warned it is very graphic and disturbing. See video here

As it stands right now, China needs to take a stance and change/add to current laws stopping these disgusting and horrific acts from continuing.

In order to accomplish this, we need to push our voice to the right people. If you are from China you need to find out the correct process for contacting your government officials and make your opinion known. For those coming from different countries you need to write a letter, fax, or make a phone call to the Chinese embassy. I have taken the time to find the details for the Canadian and United States Chinese Ambassador and will list them below. As well I’ve wrote a petition online that you can sign by going to my Animal Cruelty Petition to China. Please take the time to do this, online petitions are effectual in showing the amount of support behind a given concern. It only takes a few minutes to sign up and fill it out, you can even remain anonymous if you wish. I will be mailing this petition to both the U.S. and Canadian Embassies when we have an adequate response. I don’t think that a million or even a billion respondents is high, in fact I think it is low. So please, pass this link on and tell as many people as you can to join us in our fight to stop this cruelty to our pets.
