Male VS Female Pets

Most people wonder what makes the better pet a male or a female? For some reason most people think that females make the better pet. In my own opinion i do not feel this is true. Both are equally as wonderful. Most people believe that males like to mark and hump everything in sight. This is just not true and as for female they can mark and hump just like a male. A lot of people also think that females don’t participate in fighting over dominance and this is just not true.

Males- In my experience as a dog breeder of many years, males are usually more affectionate than females, and are more attentive and more demanding of your attention and time. Males just love their people and are very attached to their family’s. Males also tend to be less moody than females and are more reliable and steadfast. Males also tend to be more out going than females and are more accepting to other pets. I have also found that males tend to take to children faster than females. Most males are also easily motivated by food so they are eager to do what you want them to do, so this helps with training just because they love food. Males also just love to be praised so this also is a benefit when it comes to training. However males can be easily distracted due to their want to play during training. No matter what age the males just love to be a pup , they love to play games and catch a ball or just act silly. The males just tend to be big babies till the day they die, they just can’t get enough love and attention. Neutered males very rarely lift their legs if they are Neutered by the age of 5 months old, they usually don’t even start to lift their leg, and if they do it’s just to urinate not to mark. Then there is the cost, it is usually have the price to have a male Neutered than to have a female spayed.

Female- Females in the dog pack makeup usually rule the roost. Most females are very independent and stubborn and are very territorial than most males. Some females like to show their dominance by doing behaviors such as humping. If there are fights between dogs it will usually be between two females. Females will come to you for attention but when they have had enough they will go away and do what they feel like doing. Unlike the male who just wants to keep on playing or getting loved. As for training females don’t usually get distracted as for she just wants to get it over with and get back to sleeping on the blanket. Females tend to not show much dominance in battling with you, but are very cunning and resourceful in getting their own way. Females are also prone to mood swings, one day she is very loving and sweet and the next she is grumpy. Females also go into heat every 6-8 months unless they are Spayed. Heats can be a real pain, they get blood all over the place and are moody. It is best to have your female spayed by the age of 6 months so that they don’t even go into heat. This will also help so what with the mood swings. Females as they get older tend to be more reserved or dignified as they get older.

There is a lot to think about when picking Male or Female before making your decision. In my own opinion on having both Male and Female as pets, males tend to be a little more lovable but both are wonderful pets. I myself have no preference one over the other they are both wonderful male or female. All i can say is if you really love the breed that you are wanting don’t let the sex of the pup stand in your way of getting what you want you won’t be sorry male or female they will love you just the same. It would be sad to see someone turn down a pup just because of it’s sex you could be missing out on the best pet of your life. In closing also remember if you have a mind set on just one sex most of what you have heard were isolated situations and either sex is just as wonderful of a pet.
